"Mara Dyer believes life can't get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong."

THIS BOOK WAS FLIPPING MENTAL!!!
And I LOVED it!
This book is narrated from the point of view of a girl who suffers from PTSD after a very traumatizing event that killed off her best friend, her boyfriend and her boyfriend's sister but left her unharmed. She remembers nothing about the event and ever since she's been hallucinating, her family then decides to move to a new town and Mara starts at a new school, she tries to move on from what happen and also sort of piece together what happened to her and her friends.
So since Mara is a very unreliable narrator most of the time throughout the book I had no idea which events were truly happening and which she hallucinated, even so I really enjoyed her as a narrator, the fact that she is an unreliable narrator just makes the book much more interesting and intriguing.
Overall, I freaking loved this book, such a fast paced read and I would definitely recommend it to lovers of the thriller genre and would not be bothered with strong language and violence. That is all I can say for non spoilers, if you have not read the book don't scroll any further, go to the bookstore or library and READ THIS BOOK, then come back and read my review. BYE NON SPOILERS.
Well well.. Hello there readers of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!
Did it drive me insane? Hell yeah. Was I confused throughout the book? Obviously!
But honestly this book blew my mind, I had low expectation because this book was so hyped and I don't like getting my hopes up for overhyped books but this was amazing.
Can we just start of with that weird note in the beginning of the book, the whole my name isn't Mara Dyer but my lawyer told me I had to pick something crap. You get what I mean. Yeah well that, what the hell does that mean I don't, I don't get it. I hope they will explain it in the next books, I mean I'm pretty sure they will but yeah well the book already had me intrigued at that.
Okay lets talk character, Mara Dyer. She is a really great protagonist and I thoroughly enjoyed reading from her perspective despite her being unreliable. She is witty, funny and just overall a great female protagonist.
Now this is probably not the most popular opinion but I wan't in love with the character Noah. I liked him a lot but I wasn't head over heels for him, the typical bad boy, playboy stereotype sort of come off as a cliché to me.
Lets talk about Jamie shall we? Jamie Roth aka Mara's friend in her new school aka MY FAVORITE CHARACTER. He is just so refreshing, so sarcastic and sassy. I just I love him so much and I just can't even tell you furthermore he is just great.
So the murders that happen throughout this book, I was honestly quite confused on what exactly happened. Was it a hallucination or did she really killed them off, and if she did how? So the people that got killed of were her Spanish teacher, Morales and the dog's owner. In my opinion, I honestly didn't mind at all that they got killed. Morales? She's a teacher and throwing chalk at your student isn't a teacherly thing to do, she could've got fired because of that. And Mabel's owner? He was abusing the poor dog, and its just so wrong how he looked down at animals. But the question still remains, did Mara really kill them with her weird 'powers'(?) or was she hallucinating that she was the one that killed them.
There was this scene where Mara came home from the part, remember that scene? Yeah? Okay. THAT SCENE WAS INSANE. Like the doors was opened and literally no one was home, then the windows and portraits on the left and right side of the room got switched, how the heck did that happen?!
And then the scene with the earrings and the bathtub. She supposedly saw the earring falling off to the bathtub so she sticks her arm in and then...
'Thats how my mom find me two hours later'
WHAT THE FUDGE?! And then the earrings were still on her ears the whole time. Like that's messed up, that's effin scary.
The whole Mara sucks the life out of Noah when they kiss thing, what is that? Like is it true? Or is it just paranoia? And the death kiss at the end THAT WAS JUST A DREAM?!
OH! And Jude is ALIVE?! WHAT? HOW? WHY? GAAH.
Mara saw Jude alive and well in the police station after her father and Lasiter got shot, and he was wearing a Rolex and remember how the kidnapper of Joseph wore a Rolex? What.. What does that mean? Was Jude the kidnapper? Was it some kind of revenge?
God.. Confusions.. In the best way possible.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, a solid first book in a series.
